Keep conversations and files together, with encryption you can understand. Here is what Lock does today—and what is still on the way.
01 / Content privacy
End-to-end encrypted. Even your files.
Message bodies and new files are encrypted on your device before upload. Filenames and file metadata are encrypted too, using the same attachment format on web, iPhone and Mac.
Older public web uploads are not retroactively encrypted. Recovery and server-provided keys have trust limits.
ENCRYPT BEFORE UPLOAD
02 / Screen privacy
Step away. Lock the chat.
Choose an inactivity timeout in minutes in Profile on web, iPhone or Mac. When it expires, Lock hides the screen and requires your account password before showing messages again.
Set 0 to turn it off. This is a screen privacy feature—not sign-out, key erasure or remote deletion. Downloaded files and other apps still need your device’s own screen lock.
AUTO-LOCK / PASSWORD REQUIRED
03 / Team conversations
A place for every conversation.
Organize team discussions in channels and use direct messages for one-to-one conversations. Invite people into your workspace and manage membership with role-based permissions.
Find text in messages your client has retrieved and decrypted. Text matching happens on your device, rather than in a server-side plaintext message index.
Web search sends your search query to the server to request encrypted candidates. Results depend on the history retrieved and the keys available; this is not a search of every message.
DECRYPT + MATCH ON DEVICE
05 / Everyday details
Say it clearly. Share the context.
Format messages, add emoji and attach files without leaving the conversation. Live presence and unread indicators help you see who is around and where to catch up.
iPhone and Mac App Store listings are coming soon. The web app is available now.
MACOS / IPHONE / WEB
07 / Pro only / Beta
Direct team calls. One teammate at a time.
Start a one-to-one voice call from a direct message with another member of your team on web, iPhone or Mac. Answer, mute and end the call without leaving Lock. Calls are a Pro plan feature in beta—not group calls.
Call audio uses encrypted WebRTC transport with automatic chat-key possession checks and no code-comparison prompts. First-use identity trust relies on server-delivered keys; changed remembered keys block calls rather than being silently replaced. This is not independent peer-identity verification. Identity-key theft and password-backed recovery remain limits; see the security details. Cross-network relay calling still needs live validation; beta is not a reliability promise. Pro-only access is advertised, not yet enforced.
